Heck with the beach, I use these as my everyday shoes. Even without extra padding, gel inserts, or anything else, these are pretty much the most comfortable shoes I have worn. I wore out my last two pairs, but I used them for over 2 years. It wasn't the sole that wore out, but rather the plastic body of the shoe where it is between the traction bumps on the bottom. When I bought a new pair, I made sure they were the same brand and the same type of shoe. They are as wonderful as I remember. I haven't tried hiking, jogging, or long-distance walking in them, but for everyday normal use, they are great! As a perk, if you get mud, dirt, or animal feces on them, you can run them under a faucet.
