This review is about the VCJ Portable Evaporative Air Cooler, which i bought for our patio.I was looking for something for our back porch, to keep us cool during the summer. and we came across this Air-cooler.The Unit is about 41' or 42 in height, connects thru an AC power cord. (no batteries required.)Also included are 6 ice pks, to keep the water cool. (But you can also add ice)The water tank is at the bottom, water is pored into it from the top tray. which then goes down into the tank. the water tank fills up about 3-4 jugs. (which last a long time.) i believe 3 or 4 days, maybe longer.The unit has 4 wheels, easy for pushing or pulling, to place right where you want it.The front vents are moveable up or down. to get the cool air on that perfect spot. it blows enough air, (about 8 or 9 feet away.) Honesty the coldness is not gonna beat a real home A/C. I would say that while it does a good job at blowing a lot of air. the coldness is about a 6 or 7 out of 10. which means that you can feel it. So NO! it wont leave you sweating. or hot.It also comes with button that moves the air left and right (which i didnt even know when i bought it.) lolThe Unit has a nob for power on and off, as well as how high you want it..Low mid or high. numbred as 1, 2, 3.Personally i liked it. my family likes it. even my dog loves the freash air., lol I would buy again for me or as a gift.If you are looking for a budget air cooling A/C for either indoors or out. give this1 a try.I ordered this for a garage. We live in Texas and it has been extremely hot. It did not work well at all so I was dissappointed. It ran like it was supposed to but it did not cool. I had another similar water fan that failed to cool that garage too so I do not blame the machine. I just thought it would at least put out cool air but in that situation it did not. It was simply a fan. I brought it back into the house and placed it in a sunroom that has an airconditioner and it helped boost it very well. Bottom line is it was ready to set up, rolls very well, is easy to fill but it does use a lot of water. I would recommend it for a boost affect or in a room that doesnt get direct sun as our garage did during part of the day.The fan is very strong, even on speed 1, cools down very quickly. It is rather noisy, especially if you have the louvers moving side to side. Definitely don’t want to move it around much with it full of water. I didn’t see how to clean dust/dog hair from the vents, but I’m assuming it should be done after the unit has not been running for an extended period of time so it would have time to dry and could be vacuumed? Over all, we are pleased with this unit so far. ?This is a good machine, in terms of effectiveness. It is louder than expected, with a lot of water noise.I bought this for my elderly mother. She finds it easy to use. It definitely makes the room a little bit cooler. It's not as cold as a traditional A/C, but every bit helps. The only thing is that if you have to empty out the water, I think the only way to empty it is to turn the machine on its side. The cord is a little short, so you may have to add an extension cord as well. Needless to say, it's still a good option for keeping cool.I just received my evaporating cooler today and it works great. I highly recommend anyone to purchase this cooler. I had a smaller one that worked okay but I needed more cooling capacity for my den and kitchen. This cooler keeps my den and kitchen extremely comfortable and reduces my electric bill. I now set my A/C at 80 degrees and it does not have to run all day when the temperature is above 100 degrees.I got this when we started experiencing the recent heat wave down south with the news that the next one would be worse. We live in an upstairs apartment and even with a brand new central AC, my bedroom was just not getting or staying cool. I’ve had it for 2 days now and I’m actually COLD as I write this. So: SUCCESS.If it works in an upstairs apartment in Alabama, it’ll work for you.The cooler arrived well packaged, is nice and quiet and is easy to fill and drain. We like the easy top fill, VS spilling water trying to fill from the side or bottom of others. It moves lots of air for its size! The water level indicator is easy to see at a glance. If you want maximum air circulation it's perfect as is, if you want maximum cooling or humidification I recommend blocking off the side vents so all the air has to pass through the wet cooler pad. Overall very happy with our purchase.
