For under $5, I have to admit I was skeptical. I had never used or bought lens hoods before [shame on me!] and because I'm just starting out, I needed some savings.I am not disappointed. It fits my 50mm F/1.8 perfectly. I don't keep the hood on in transit [maybe that's just my paranoia], and not once has the lens cracked, stripped, or anything else. I'd assume that maybe the company just makes bad batches sometimes. I love this lens hood and for what I paid for it, I feel good about it and this company in the future for hood purchases.
