Just over a year ago, I decided to give the water wiggler a try for my bird bath. A year later, I'm not only still using it, but I've just ordered a second one for my other birdbath. That's a testament to its durability and value in my book. It's also worth mentioning that before I settled on this battery-powered water wiggler, I tried a couple of the solar-powered models. Unfortunately, they just didn't hold a candle to this one. With the solar models, I found they were too inconsistent, often not working when there was even the slightest cloud cover or shade. They also seemed less durable overall, struggling with any kind of fluctuation in weather. In contrast, the battery-powered water wiggler has worked dependably regardless of the weather or season. Even in the heart of winter, it kept the water moving, which was a big hit with the birds. So if you're debating between solar or battery-powered, based on my experience, I'd definitely suggest going with the battery-powered model. Now, I will say that while the device has proven to be surprisingly resilient, it's not without its flaws. The main issue is the water leakage through the top screw. This would make me hesitate to label the wiggler as completely waterproof. However, a bit of DIY ingenuity fixed this issue for me. I applied a small amount of caulk to the screw, and it's been smooth sailing (or should I say wiggling) ever since. I don’t think it’s worth subtracting a whole star for this, given how much better this one is compared to others on the market. But I’d give it a 4.8 if I could. One unexpected advantage I've noticed is the cleanliness of my birdbath water. I was initially interested in the wiggler for the birds' enjoyment, but it turns out this gadget also keeps the water fresher for longer. The constant movement inhibits the growth of mosquitoes and slows the accumulation of other detritus, which is a win in my book.In terms of bird enjoyment, there was a noticeable increase once the local birds got accustomed to the new water dynamics. It's been a pleasure to watch them frolicking and splashing about more energetically. In conclusion, despite a minor waterproofing issue, the water wiggler has proven to be a beneficial addition to my bird baths. I recommend it for anyone who enjoys watching birds and wants to maintain a cleaner birdbath with less effort. Just keep in mind, you may need a little caulk on hand to ensure the longest life for your wiggler.
