Comparing cheap and expensive water pumps, I noticed the cheap ones are missing the long "finger" in the gasket which aims the flow of water through the pump. I paid twice the price for this one because the photo shows a gasket with the finger, but the gasket I received is missing it. It probably won't have any detrimental effect, but I feel it could be an indication of quality. Then as I was torquing down the bolts, I couldn't fit a socket on the bolt next to the 90° outlet pipe. The pump that has been on the car had a groove in the outlet perfectly sized to allow room for a socket, while this one had no groove at all. I had to use an open-ended wrench instead, and estimate the torque. Hopefully it doesn't leak.I think I could have bought the one for half the price and gotten the same quality, or spent twice as much and been far more confident in my repair.
